Stop! Children’s Cancer recently visited The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute in Jupiter, Florida, for an inside look at the groundbreaking pediatric cancer research happening right here in our community.
During a special luncheon, we heard updates from:
Patrick Griffin, Ph.D., who shared an overview of the Institute’s continued growth and innovation.
Joanne Lagmay, M.D., who discussed pediatric cancer initiatives at the University of Florida College of Medicine, including urgent research focused on aggressive childhood cancers like osteosarcoma — a key area of our support.
Courtney Miller, Ph.D., who highlighted advancements in pediatric brain cancer research and the development of more precise, targeted therapies.
We also toured the High-Throughput Screening Center, where scientists rapidly evaluate potential cancer treatments, and the Kodadek Lab, where degrader-focused research is uncovering new ways to target and destroy cancer cells.
What we witnessed was clear: world-class childhood cancer research is happening in Jupiter, FL. With limited federal funding for pediatric cancer, philanthropy remains essential to accelerating discovery and improving outcomes for children.
Thanks to your support, progress is being made — right here at home.
